🚉 Get on Track with Rail Day Success! 🚉Yesterday, nearly 40 school students from the Hunter and Central Coast joined us at Lake Macquarie Light Rail for an exciting “Get on Track with Rail” day! The students worked their way through three interactive stations, gaining hands-on experience and insights into the rail industry.They helped replace a sleeper and learned about safeworking in Track Maintenance, explored Rail Signaling and how it keeps trains running safely, and got up close with the mechanics of a locomotive. 🚆 Rail Safety Week unites the rail workforce, law enforcement, government, and community groups to emphasize the importance of safety on and around rail. Regardless of where we live, knowing how to stay safe around rail is crucial.Why is rail safety important?Rail safety affects everyone. Fatalities, incidents, and near hits on the network can cause severe and lasting trauma to rail employees involved. Most of these incidents are preventable.From 2016-2023, there were an average of 83 fatalities per year (7 per month), including 71 suspected suicides, 7 trespassers, and 5 at railway crossings.
