The NSW Smart and Skilled program is a program developed by the NSW Government that helps individuals receive qualifications that are currently in-demand. As an approved Smart and Skilled training provider, The Instruction Company Pty Ltd can help individuals obtain qualifications in a range of industries and courses.

The Instruction Company Pty Ltd are a NSW Smart & Skilled contracted Registered Training Organisation (RTO). That means the NSW Government subsidises our delivery of training to you for some qualifications.

Courses Available

The NSW Smart and Skilled Courses available with the Instruction Company are:

 

• TLI23221 Certificate II in Shunting

• TLI27121 Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure

• TLI37122 Certificate III in Rail Infrastructure

• TLI21921 Certificate II in Track Protection

• TLI32721 Certificate III in Track Protection

• TLI31421 Certificate III in Light Rail Vehicle Driving

• TLI42622 Certificate IV in Train Driving

• TLI40921 Certificate IV in Rail Network Control

Funding and Fees

All training fees depend on your personal circumstances. If you are a recipient of government benefits, have a disability or are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander you may be eligible for fee free* or a concession price.

Your enrolment fee will be depended upon your circumstances and previous training history. We cannot assess your actual fee until you have completed your enrolment application.

After we check your enrolment, we will contact you directly to detail any fees applicable.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for Smart and Skilled training you must be:

• 15 years or over

• No longer at school

• Living or working in NSW

• An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen

*There are also some exceptions to the eligibility conditions described above, such as for Aboriginal people who live in specific, defined areas outside the NSW border.

    Student Support

    Your success means everything to us at TICRail.  Our classes are small, meaning training can be tailored to your individual needs and more attention is given to each individual.

    We offer a range of support services:

    Study Support

    Students will be provided study support from their trainer and assessor and will be based on the individual needs of students.

    Language, Literacy and Numeracy Support

    Students will be provided language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) support based upon the LLN assessment outcomes in ACSF areas that are lower than that of the qualification requirements. Strategies will vary depending on the LLN assessment results.

    Learning Support

    Students will be provided with learning support that meets their individual needs and learning styles which includes contextualising course materials, assessment resources and other course related information.

    Mentoring/Coaching Support

    Students will be provided with mentoring/coaching support from one of our qualified trainers and assessors

    IT Support

    Students will be provided with IT support relevant to the training program by internal RTO staff or one of our qualified trainers and assessors.

    External Support Services

    Beyond Blue

    Beyond Blue provides support for people suffering with depression or anxiety with information to help further educate anyone looking for help and provides a list of national helplines and websites for those in need.

    Lifeline

    Lifeline provides support especially in emergency crisis situations relating to mental health. Lifeline can provide support via phone; crisis support chat on their website or by text message

    Family and Child Connect

    Family and Child Connect work with a collection of services aiming to support each unique family situation to address:

    • Better family relations
    • Stopping violence
    • Alcohol, drug and gambling problems

    Centrelink provides social security payments and services to eligible Australians, including:

    • Payments and services to help your child’s education and health care
    • Income support for individuals looking to complete study or gain assistance to get a job

    The Reading and Writing Hotline

    The Reading and Writing Hotline is a free national service for those who are looking for assistance with reading, writing and basic mathematics. They offer services including:

    • Information on classes in your area
    • Assistance via mail or computer
    • Finding teachers and others who can support you
    • Suggesting websites and books to assist you
