Course Overview

Course Duration

5 days classroom based - from 8am to 4pm. Followed by a 1 day assessment which is conducted after 10 successful rail welds and 10 turnouts under the supervision of qualified Ultrasonic tester.

Delivery Mode

Blended Face-to-face Classroom Delivery for the units of competency followed by on-the-job practical workbooks to gain experience and the consolidate your learning in the units of competency on the work site.

This course involves the skills and knowledge required to test switches, crossings and other special components in turnouts using ultrasonic and other non-destructive testing equipment in Western Australia.

The successful completion of this course requires competency to be achieved in 2 units.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you need to be working in the rail industry and have someone who is prepared to allow you to complete your practical experience with them as the practical experience is a required component of this course.

You will also need to hold these units as per the National Track and Civil Matrix:

– Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Track Work), or

– a recognised qualification in non-destructive testing equivalent to a Certificate II or above.

Course Outcomes
