The QR3.2 Safely Access the Rail Corridor Recertification course is aligned with the specific requirements of Queensland Rail’s Network Rules and Procedures MD-12-189. It is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to safely enter and navigate the rail corridor and danger zone, with the permission of the access provider, in full compliance with legislative and regulatory standards.

Participants will learn to adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols of the access provider to ensure situational awareness and rail safety. The course covers operating under local track protection rules, including interpreting track protection requirements, executing assigned protection tasks, and performing work activities in line with safe working practices and workplace procedures. Additionally, learners will be trained to respond effectively to safety incidents and abnormal situations, within their scope of personal responsibility.

Target Audience:

This course is intended for individuals who have previously completed the initial QR 3.2 Safely Access the Rail Corridor course and need to recertify their qualifications.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Safely access and work in the rail corridor: Demonstrate safe entry and operational procedures for working in the rail corridor in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Identify components of the rail corridor: Recognise and describe key components of the rail corridor, including tracks, signals, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Determine minimum sighting distances: Understand and apply minimum sighting distances required for safe work practices in the rail corridor.
  • Identify safety hazards, risks, and controls: Identify common safety hazards and risks within the rail corridor and the control measures in place to mitigate them.
  • Report unsafe situations: Recognise and promptly report unsafe situations or practices observed in the rail environment to the appropriate authorities.
