Queensland Rail 3.15 Working in the Electrified Territory Recertification

This course provides essential safety training for workers who will be working in or near Queensland Rail's electrified rail environment. It covers safe practices for operating around the electric traction system and working within electrified territories to prevent injuries and incidents.

The course is designed for contractors and authorised personnel, equipping them with a foundational understanding of the traction system, electrical risks, and minimum safe working procedures for working in electrified areas within Queensland Rail. It also provides guidelines on effectively reporting incidents and emergencies.

Successful completion of this training is mandatory to perform work safely on or near high-voltage electrical apparatus across Queensland Rail’s electrified rail network (unless the work is performed under direct supervision). This course does not grant access to railway corridors or facilities.

 

Introduction:

Target Audience:

This course is intended for individuals who have previously completed the initial QR 3.15 Working in the Electrified Territory course and need to recertify their qualifications.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe how the electric traction system operates: Recognise and explain the key components of the electric traction system and its role in the electrified rail environment.
  • Identify common electrical and safety terminology: Understand and correctly use electrical and safety terms relevant to working in electrified territories.
  • Outline legislative obligations and requirements for working in electrified territory and around overhead line equipment: Recognise and describe the key safety regulations and obligations when working in electrified environments, particularly in relation
  • Identify emergency situations and describe the process to be followed: Recognise potential emergency situations and explain the procedures to follow for managing electrical incidents and ensuring safety.

  • Classroom-based learning: Face-to-face instruction covering essential theoretical concepts and safety procedures.
  • Knowledge assessments: Written tests to evaluate participants' understanding of the course material.
