This course begins with four days of trainer-led classroom learning, where you will develop the knowledge and skills required to safely perform the roles requirements. During the classroom component, you will complete knowledge assessments to demonstrate your understanding.

Following the classroom training, you will be required to complete an in-field logbook in your workplace. This practical experience must be organised by you and completed under the supervision of a qualified workplace mentor, who will verify your competency in performing the required tasks.

Once your logbook has been completed, you will return to TICRail to undertake a final practical assessment, where one of our qualified assessors will observe your skills and confirm your competency against the requirements of the unit.

Please note that the final practical assessment is booked separately and attracts an additional assessment fee.

This course provides essential safety training for workers who will be working in or near Queensland Rail's electrified rail environment. It covers safe practices for operating around the electric traction system and working within electrified territories to prevent injuries and incidents.

The course is designed for contractors and authorised personnel, equipping them with a foundational understanding of the traction system, electrical risks, and minimum safe working procedures for working in electrified areas within Queensland Rail. It also provides guidelines on effectively reporting incidents and emergencies.

Successful completion of this training is mandatory to perform work safely on or near high-voltage electrical apparatus across Queensland Rail’s electrified rail network (unless the work is performed under direct supervision). This course does not grant access to railway corridors or facilities.
