SUMMARY:ARTC NSW Track Vehicle Operator
DESCRIPTION:ARTC NSW Track Vehicle Operator \n\nARTC_NSW_TVO\n\n\nThe ARTC NSW Track Vehicle Operator course is designed to qualify participants to safely operate road-rail vehicles and other on-track machines on the ARTC NSW rail network. The course ensures that participants understand the operational requirements\, safeworking responsibilities\, and communications protocols involved in controlling rail-bound vehicles. Emphasis is placed on safety\, regulatory compliance\, and coordination with Network Control and other safeworking personnel.\n\nIntroduction:\nIn alignment with industry consultation and the job role expectations\, the following is needed for course admission:\n\n	A valid Category 1 Rail Medical assessment\n	CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry \n	TLIF0020 Safely Access the Rail Corridor \n\n\n As well as one of the following roles and associated units of competency: \n\nRoad-Rail Plant Operator  \n\n\n	TLIC3045 Operate a road/rail vehicle \n	TLIC2054 Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite \n\nRail Bound Plant Operator - National\n\n\n	TLIB0012 Maintain and use hand tools \n	TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods\n	TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication\n	TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures\n	TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies\n	TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals\n	TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure\n	TLIC2054 Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite\n\nand either \n\n\n	TLIC0010 Propel and operate light on track equipment \n\nOR\n\n\n	TLIC2058 Travel medium or heavy self-propelled on-track equipment\n\n\nRail Bound Plant Operator Light – National\n\n\n	TLIB0012 Maintain and use hand tools\n	TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods\n	TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication\n	TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures\n	TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies\n	TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals\n	TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure\n	TLIC2054 Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite\n	TLIC0010 Propel and operate light on track equipment \n\nRail Bound Plant Operator Heavy – National\n\n\n	TLIB0012 Maintain and use hand tools\n	TLID0020 Shift materials safely using manual handling methods\n	TLIE1003 Participate in basic workplace communication\n	TLIF0025 Follow work health and safety procedures\n	TLIF2010 Apply fatigue management strategies\n	TLIB2085 Apply track fundamentals\n	TLIU2008 Apply environmental procedures to rail infrastructure\n	TLIC2054 Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite\n	TLIC2058 Travel medium or heavy self-propelled on-track equipment\n\n\n\n\nTarget Audience:\nThis course is delivered through four days of classroom-based learning and includes knowledge assessments\, an in-field logbook\, and practical observations to evaluate both theoretical understanding and hands-on competence.?\n\n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes:\nOperating track vehicles safely: Understanding operational controls\, safety systems\, and procedures for starting\, stopping\, and manoeuvring on-track vehicles.Managing vehicle movements within protected worksites: Coordinating movements with Protection Officers and other site personnel.Communicating with Network Control and safeworking personnel: Using correct communication protocols\, including obtaining authority to access track.Complying with ARTC NSW Network Rules and Procedures: Operating within network guidelines for safe movement and positioning of vehicles.Responding to faults\, failures\, or incidents: Applying procedures for breakdowns\, emergency stops\, and incident escalation.\n\n\nLearning Methods:\n\n	Knowledge assessments: Written tests to evaluate participants' understanding of the course material.\n	In-field logbook: Participants complete tasks under the supervision of a qualified mentor\, documenting their experiences and competencies in a logbook.\n	Practical observation assessments: Hands-on activities where participants demonstrate their skills in a controlled environment.\n\n\n\n\nProgram Benefits:\nCareer Advancement: Enables participants to pursue roles involving the operation of track vehicles\, enhancing employability within rail construction and maintenance teams.Certification: Successful participants receive a Statement of Attainment and Certificate of Achievement\, authorising them to operate track vehicles in the ARTC NSW network.Safety and Compliance: Ensures participants are trained to manage complex protection scenarios in line with ARTC NSW Network Rules\, significantly enhancing worksite safety and regulatory compliance.Practical Experience: Includes real-world scenarios\, planning exercises\, and practical assessments that simulate high-risk rail environments\, building confidence and operational capability.Industry Recognition: The course is recognised by the ARTC\, enhancing the credibility and employability of participants within the rail industry.\n\n\nContent:\n\n  \n\nEnquire\nUpcoming Workshops\nThere are currently no openings available for this course.
